Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri says he is disappointed with his side's 2-0 loss to Varese during a pre-season friendly.

Allegri believed his team could win, despite only having four days to prepare for the clash.

"I would have liked to commence my coaching reign here with a win, but after only four days of work - which took a lot out of the players - I did not expect a brilliant squad to appear," Allegri revealed to Sport.it. "We did a few good things, and with some more attention, could have avoided the two goals conceded.

"We need to improve the way we move the ball around, but for this we need to improve our conditioning, something which is occurring now.

"The objective is for the side to be ready fot the start of the Serie A season," Allegri summed up.
