Inter centre-back Marco Materazzi has berated former team-mate Amantino Mancini after the midfielder poured venom on the Italian champions in the wake of his loan switch to city rivals Milan on transfer deadline day.

“He said he can breathe a different atmosphere at Milanello and I think he could have really spared that,” Materazzi told Il Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

“After all, he won a Scudetto and a half at Inter since he also became winter champion with us this term.

“It’s never fair to bite the hand that feeds you. Besides, he could be back at Inter in June…

“Mind you, he is a friend and I wish him well. But he should have spared those words, also because nobody had asked him anything about it.”

Mancini claimed he had wasted six months of his career at Appiano Gentile after Jose Mourinho refused to rubber-stamp his exit in the summer only to push him further down the pecking order during the course of the season.

The Brazilian will spend the second half of the campaign with the Rossoneri, who have the option to acquire half his sporting rights next summer.
