Serie A giants AC Milan have announced that Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato will undergo an unspecified dental procedure today and is expected to resume training at the weekend.

Press reports suggest the Rossoneri have decided to take action in an attempt to resolve the 20-year-old’s long-standing muscular problems, which have kept him out of action since a 2-0 home defeat by Palermo on December 13.

Pato will rest for two or three days after the operation and is therefore unlikely to play any part in Sunday’s Serie A trip to Bologna.

Milan have also revealed that Italian international midfielder Andrea Pirlo will train separate from the rest of the Diavoli squad for the next two to three days, while centre-back Alessandro Nesta skipped yesterday’s training session after coming down with influenza.
